are not occupied.
In
crystallography, a vacancy
is a point defect in
crystal. Crystals inherently
possess imperfections, often
referred to as 'crystalline
defects'. A defect wherein a
silicon
atom is missing from one of
the sites is known as a 'vacancy'
defect.
